Who Is "Brilliant" Anyway?
2007 Jul 11 8:49PMI've been thinking a lot about who someone would classify as brilliant. Really, it's kind of circumstantial. I've worked at Backcountry.com for about five months now, and I can tell you that I've been impressed with just about every person that works there. They are all so organized. So smart. So, well... brilliant. Among so many shining stars, can there be someone that outshines them all? Of course there can.
Let me introduce Dave Jenkins. This guy is absolutely brilliant. He took Backcountry.com, a small company in a small Warehouse in Heber, to the multi-million dollar company it is today. Amid his constant profanity, he always rambles about random ideas, nearly every one of them a great idea. It's like his brain never stop thinking. He knows how to get the right person for the job on hand. He knows how to get things done.
He was an awesome boss, and I hate to see him go. I just wish I could have gotten to known him better before he left. I hope that wherever he goes, he will make the same impression as he did on me to everyone else. Why he got the boot, I'll never know. He is one of the most brilliant people I've ever met, and I'm almost certain I will ever meet. Thanks Dave.

Props to you, Josh. I only look smart, mostly because I surround myself with people like you. To quote David St. Hubbins: "It's such a fine line between stupid and clever." I would put myself more in the former, but hey.
